Race and ethnicity are still a cause of social division today, and lead to discrimination. Racism does not have to explicit for a person to perpetuate racism: a minority group is discriminated against by your actions, even if those actions are unintentional for example.
In the following case study, Steve talks about his own experiences of working with a service user from the Caribbean when he was on placement, and how he failed to take into account anti-racist practice.
