PCF Super Domains and Links to Ethical Social Work Practice
The Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) has nine central domains clustered into three overarching themes or ‘Super Domains’ to recognise each distinct professional area of development and the inter-connections between them. In summary the three Super Domains are:
- The PURPOSE of social work, incorporating values, ethics and commitment to equality, diversity, rights and human justice (domains 2,3,4).
- The PRACTICE of social work with individuals, families and communities; it’s knowledge base, application of critical analysis and the development of essential skills and interventions (domains 5,6,7).
- The IMPACT of social work across organisations and different contexts through the demonstration of professionalism, leadership skills and professional development (domains 1,8,9).
In this resource two scenarios describe two social work students on different placement who have ethical issues to consider.
