Typically before you start your placement, you will be expected to complete a learning agreement. Although a learning agreement will differ across universities and placements, in essence, your learning agreement should reflect your strengths and learning needs and identify ways in which these needs can be addressed.
The following quick guide provides guidance for creating an effective learning agreement and making it work for you.

- Consider your strengths and learning needs in light of your ideal placement and note these down.
- Think about your forthcoming placement, or your ideal placement. What competencies would you expect to be able to evidence by the end of the placement?
- Think about a task you need to do. Write a 'SMART' objective for it.
